Laurel Women Arrested in Stabbing

Released Wednesday September, 3, 2008

Bridgeville – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 45-year-old Laurel woman for Assault 2nd degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony for her acts related to a stabbing that occurred last evening in Bridgeville.

At approximately 8:20 pm, troopers responded to the 49 year old victim’s residence, located in the 20000 block of Booker T. Washington Street in Bridgeville, after 911 was called. When troopers arrived, they recovered the victims blood stained tee shirt, shoes, and learned he had been stabbed. The victim was then transported and admitted to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuries resulting from stab wounds to the back and shoulder.

Investigators learned the victim was involved in a verbal argument with his girlfriend, Joyce A. Lingham, 45 of Laurel. During the argument, Ms. Lingham stabbed the victim two times with a knife. Investigators were able to locate a witness who informed police that Ms. Lignham admitted that she stabbed the victim during the argument.

Ms. Lingham turned herself in this morning at Troop 5 and was charged with the aforementioned offenses. She was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $7000.00 secured bond.
