Tuesday, August 19, 2008
Kenton
– The Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a 4 year
old Sudlersville, MD boy that occurred late this afternoon.
Troopers responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:16 pm that
stated a small child was unconscious after being found inside a
locked car. The incident occurred on a property located in the 200
block of Blackiston Road, Kenton.
Investigators
have determined that the child, who shall be referred to as the
victim, arrived along with his mother and two siblings at the
Blackiston Road residence earlier in the day. The property, which is
owned by the victim’s grandparents, consists of a work shop and
residence. At approximately 12:30 pm, the victim informed his mother
he was going to visit his father who was working in the workshop on
the property that was approximately 100 yards away from the home.
At some point
after visiting with his father, the victim tells his father he was
going back to the house to see his mother. It was at this point, the
victim apparently got into the families vehicle, a Nissan Altima,
and eventually locked himself in the car.
At
approximately 4:15 pm, the mother assuming the child is still with
the father inquires to her husband as to where the victim was. This
is when she learned that the victim reportedly left the shop a long
time ago to meet with her at the house. The family began an
immediate search of the property when they found the victim inside
the locked car unconscious.
They forced
entry to the vehicle and attempted CPR on the victim, but were not
able to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the scene by
paramedics. The victim has been turned over to the State Medical
Examiner for an autopsy. During the course of the investigation
detectives have found no evidence that foul play is involved.
No charges have
been filed and the case remains under investigation. |
