Monday, August 18, 2008
Ellendale
– The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that
injured a 15 year old boy early Sunday morning. Troopers responded
to the area of Saw Mill Road south of Pine Road near Ellendale at
approximately 4:30 am on Sunday, August 17 for a reported single
vehicle crash.
When troopers
arrived, they discovered a severely damaged Ford Escort off the west
side of the roadway alongside a tree. The investigation determined
that the Ford Escort was travelling southbound on Saw Mill road when
it entered a sharp left curve and failed to negotiate the turn. It
left the west edge of the road and struck a tree.
Troopers
learned two of the three occupants were transported to Milford
Hospital by family members prior to police arrival. There, they
identified the operator, Irvin Hernandez, 17 of Georgetown and a
passenger, Isac Gutierrez, 15 of Laurel. Troopers did contact these
subjects and learned Isac had suffered severe injuries and was later
flown to Christiana Hosipital where he was admitted.
Investigators
also learned a third passenger, Jose L. Roblero, 18 of Georgetown
was also injured in the crash. Apparently, when family members
arrived to take the other two to the hospital, Roblero – who had a
laceration on his head, refused to go to the hospital and walked
away from the scene.
Investigators
have learned that Roblero has not returned home since the crash and
are concerned for his welfare because of the injury he reportedly
sustained. Police have listed Roblero as a missing person after
checking the area of the crash with K-9’s, troopers and a DSP
helicopter. Roblero is 5’o7” tall, 140 lbs, medium skin tone, brown
eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing tan blue jeans, white
hoodie, orange and white Nike sneakers.
Because of the
crash, Mr. Hernandez was arrested for Vehicular Assault 2nd,
Driving without a License and other traffic offenses. He was
released on a $250.00 unsecured bond and turned over to his parents.
Anyone with
information on the whereabouts of Jose L. Roblero is asked to call
investigators at Troop 7 at644.5020 or Crime Stoppers at
