3,960 Pounds of Watermelons Stolen

Laurel- On Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at approximately 7:00 am, Delaware State Troopers responded to Laurel Auction Block, located on County Seat Road, for theft of a motor vehicle between 1:00 and 4:30 am. 

The investigation revealed that an old school bus full of watermelons was stolen from the fenced in yard by unknown suspect(s).  The suspect(s) drove the school bus through a chain link fence, causing damage to the fence and bus. 

The school bus was recovered at 4:42 am, and was found to be inoperable on Bethel Road.  Further investigation and contact with the owners of the school bus and watermelons revealed that 3,960 pounds of watermelons, which were valued at $400.00, were gone.
