Released- Monday, August 04, 2008
Millsboro-
On Sunday, August 3, 2008, at approximately 10:30 pm, a Delaware
State Trooper assigned to patrol observed a white Dodge pick-up
truck traveling on Long Neck Road, which was having difficulty
maintaining the proper lane of travel. After observing the vehicle
cross the lane markings several times, the Trooper activated his
emergency equipment.
The pick-up truck pulled to the shoulder of the road at which time
the Trooper contacted the operator later identified as Louis Konya,
47, of the 25000 Block of Starboard Drive, Millsboro.
While the Trooper was speaking with Konya there were indicators that
he may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. A DUI
investigation ensued and Mr. Konya was taken into custody and
transported to Troop 7 without incident.
Upon arriving at Troop 7 Mr. Konya’s demeanor changed. Mr. Konya’s
started to become belligerent and was no longer cooperative. Mr.
Konya refused to submit to fingerprints which resulted in a criminal
charge of Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos and Fingerprints.
As a result of the investigation, Mr. Konya was also charged with 4th
Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to have
Insurance and Registration in Possession and Failure to Drive on
Right Side of Roadway.
Konya was previously convicted of Driving Under the Influence 1990,
1991 and 2003 thus making this incident Mr. Konya's 4th
DUI in his lifetime. Mr. Konya was subsequently committed to Sussex
Correctional Institute. |
