Seaford Man Charged with 4th DUI after Crash

Released Sunday, August 3, 2008

Seaford – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 49 year old Seaford man for several charges including a 4th offense driving under the Influence charge. Last evening at approximately 7: 15 pm troopers were dispatched to a report of a single car personal injury accident at state route 20 (CONCORD RD) west of county route 485 (BETHEL CONCORD RD).

When troopers arrived, they encountered Steven J. Hydock who told troopers he was the driver of his red Ford F-150 pick-up and that for some reason he lost control of his vehicle causing it to crash into the woods. Based on the examination of the crash scene troopers determined that the vehicle had to have been traveling in excess of the posted 45 mph speed limit at the time of the collision.

While the trooper was investigating and speaking with Steven he observed many clues that Steven may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. A DUI investigation ensued and Mr. Hydock was charged and arrested for his fourth DUI.

Troopers also learned two additional passengers were inside the pick-up during the crash and were injured. They were transported by ambulance to Nanticoke ER for non-life threatening injuries. Later, one passenger was transferred from Nanticoke ER to Christiania Hospital for further treatment.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Hydock was charged with 4th Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Any Drug, Vehicular Assault First Degree Drive Under the Influence Negligent Injury, Vehicular Assault Second Degree Driving Under the Influence Negligence Causes Injury and  Unreasonable Speed. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of a $1901.00 secured bond.
