Man Shot at Local Hotel

Wilmington – The Delaware
State Police are investigating a shooting that injured an 18 year
old Wilmington man. Last evening
at approximately 6:50 pm troopers were called to the Gold Club
located on South Market Street in reference to a shooting.
When troopers arrived they contacted the victim who sustained a gun
shot wound to the left shoulder. He informed investigators he was at
the Fairview Inn, located at 1051 S. Market Street, in a room
visiting friends. Additionally, several other persons were inside
the room that were not the victim’s friends.
While in the room, the victim states 3 unknown black males ordered
him to the ground and demanded money. The victim states he saw one
black male armed with a silver handgun, at which point, he got up
and wrestled with the gunman. The victim states that he opened the
room door and ran outside at which point he was shot one time in the
left shoulder.
The victim ran into the Gold Club and contacted a bouncer who called
911. Immediately after the shooting, the three black male suspects
and one white female exit the room, and get into a dark colored Ford
Explorer and flee the area. Detectives have secured video
surveillance from the hotel and are developing positive leads in the
case as to the identity of the suspects. However, no suspect has
been positively identified at this point and investigators are
asking anyone who has information on this crime to contact

Note - the victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated
for the wound. His injury is not life threatening. The video
surveillance has been secured as evidence and is not available for
distribution.
