New Castle Man Jailed in
Violent Robbery

New Castle
– The Delaware State Police have arrested a 44 year old New Castle
resident for robbery and related offenses after a vicious robbery
occurred at the Super Lodge located at 1213 West Ave., New Castle.
Troopers responded last night
at approximately 9:45 pm after 911 was called reporting the robbery.
The investigation revealed a black male subject entered the front
lobby of the business and walked to the rear where he entered
the desk area through an open
door. The suspect walked
around to the desk where the clerk on duty was working.
The suspect immediately
punched the victim in the face several times and then reached into
the cash drawer and removed $170.00. The suspect told the victim not
to call police and fled the area. A separate employee witnessed what
occurred and video surveillance also captured the incident.
The victim sustained
significant injuries and was taken to Christiana Hospital and
treated for multiple facial fractures. During the investigation is
was discovered that the
suspect frequents the area.
At approximately 11:30 pm, a
patrol trooper was checking the area and located Robert E Dixon
III, in the Bowlerama parking
lot. This subject matched
the description of the suspect and he was detained without incident.
A subsequent review of the video surveillance confirmed he was the
robber.
As such, Dixon was charged with Robbery 1st degree,
Assault 1st degree, Theft and Criminal Mischief. He was
remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $106,000
secured bond.
