DSP News Release: Thursday, March 26, 2009- Chelsea Estates Man Charged in Major Drug Bust

Location of Incident: Unit block of Louise Road, Chelsea Estates, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: March 19^th, 2009, at approximately 6:50 p.m.

Suspect(s): Damien J. August, 41, of Louise Road, New Castle, Delaware

Resume: Members of the Delaware State Police New Castle County Drug Unit have completed a narcotics investigation and arrested a Chelsea Estates man for his part in the sale and distribution of drugs in our area.

Since December of 2008, members of the drug have focused their attention on Damien J. August.  Through the fruits of their investigation, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for August’s home.   In the early evening of March 19^th, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop as August was leaving his home in his 2005 Dodge Ram pick-up truck.  With him safely in custody, officers returned to his home where the search warrant was executed. 

The following items were seized:

• Approximately 801.1 grams of powder cocaine
• Approximately 380.4 grams of packaged marijuana
• 17.5 Xanax pills
• $17,934.00 in U.S. Currency
• One (1) 1990 Harley Davidson motorcycle
• One (1) 2001 Indian motorcycle
• One (1) 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle
• One (1) 2005 Dodge Ram truck

Damien August was formally charged on March 20^th with Trafficking Cocaine (felony), Possession with the Intent to Deliver Cocaine (felony), Possession with the Intent to Deliver Marijuana (felony), Maintaining a Dwelling for Keeping Narcotics (felony), Maintaining a Vehicle for Keeping Narcotics (felony), Possession of Narcotics (misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor). 

August was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute in lieu of $1.6 million dollars bail.
