Updated DSP News Release #1: Tuesday, March 24, 2009- State Police Probe Violent Liquor Store Robbery

North Wilmington-  State Police detectives are aggressively investigating the armed liquor store robbery from this past Saturday.  In fact, officers are characterizing this crime and the beating of the store employees as violent and senseless. 

To aid in identifying these two bandits, to surveillance video shots are included below.

Again, anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call investigators at 302-834-2630 ext. 6.

Note: Detectives are attempting to piece together a video clip of the incident.  If this becomes available, a notification via a news release will be disseminated. 

 

 

DSP News Release: Monday, March 23, 2009- State Police Probe Violent Liquor Store Robbery

Location of Incident: Silverside Liquors, 1401 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, March 21, 2009, at approximately 10:53 p.m.

Suspect(s):

  • Black male, 18-30 years old, 6’ tall, 150 – 170 pounds, medium brown complexion, thin build, masked, wearing a leather coat and black jeans with tan boots, armed with a shotgun
  • Black male, 18-30 years old, 5’09 tall, 150 – 170 pounds, thin build, masked, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. 

Resume: This past Saturday evening, Troopers were called to the Silverside Liquors in North Wilmington for an armed robbery.

At approximately 10:53 p.m., two black males entered the above location brandishing a shotgun.  The first suspect, who was the gunman, ordered the clerk to the ground.  This suspect then struck a Hispanic employee over the head with the shotgun, and while the employee was in pain, the suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money from his pockets. 

The second suspect then ordered the clerk to open the register.  While attempting to comply, the clerk was punched in the face several times by the robber who was growing impatient with the clerk’s difficulty with the register.  When the register finally opened, the second suspect removed an undisclosed amount of money from within. 

Both suspects fled the business in an unknown direction
