Updated DSP News Release: Monday, March 23, 2009- Identity of Theft Suspects Sought

North Wilmington- Authorities from Pennsylvania and Delaware have identified the suspects responsible for the theft of Jewelry from Kmart on March 16th.  Actual identification was made by Ridley Township Police and Kmart loss prevention after the rings were pawned at the Golden Nugget in Folsom, PA on March 16th.

The suspects were identified as follows: Nicholas Kowal, 22, of Secane, PA, and Jessica MaCauley, 24, of Collingdale, PA.

On March 20th, the suspects turned themselves in to the Philadelphia Police Department who in turn transferred their custody to the Ridley Township PD. The pair will be held in Pennsylvania and returned to Delaware once their charges in Pennsylvania are processed and / or adjudicated.

Questions regarding the suspects’ charges in Pennsylvania should be directed to the Ridley Township Police Department.

DSP News Release: Identity of Suspect Sought (Surveillance Photos Attached)    

Location of Incident: K Mart, Tri-State Mall, 333 Naamans Road, Claymont, New Castle County.

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, March 16, 2009 at 1320 hours

Suspect(s):  White male around 24-27 years old, about 5’ 6” tall with short brown hair.  Suspect has a very noticeable scar on the right side of his face that extends down to his neck.  Suspect also has a noticeable mark on his forehead which store employee described as a cut.

Resume: On Monday March 16, 2009 at 1320 hours the suspect entered the store made contact with a Kmart sales associate and inquired about diamond rings. The sales associated showed several rings to the suspect. The suspect had one ring, valued at $1999.99, in his hand and a second ring, valued at $1669.99 was on top of a jewelry cabinet. The suspect grabbed the second ring from the counter and fled with both rings. The suspect entered a Tan or Beige four door Saturn, with a gray bottom, and unknown Pennsylvania registration. The vehicle was operated by a white female who was waiting in the fire lane for the suspect. The vehicle fled out of the parking lot. The same suspect is also a suspect in a similar theft which occurred on March 13, 2009 at the K-mart located at 2600 E MacDade Blvd. in Ridley Township, Delaware County, PA.
