DSP News Release: Tuesday, March 10, 2009- Vehicle Runs Into Concord Pike Eatery After Initial Crash

Location of Incident: Red Lobster, Rocky Run Parkway, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, March 9, 2009, at approximately 4:55 p.m.

Resume: Yesterday evening, Troopers responded to the Red Lobster on Rocky Run Parkway for a reported ‘vehicle into the building.’

In this crash, a 2005 Jaguar sedan was operated by Mary Fidance, 70, of Rockland, Delaware.  The second vehicle involved was a 2008 Kia Optima operated by Megan Mahoney, 17, of Garnett Valley, PA. 

This investigation revealed the Jaguar was traveling westbound on Woodlawn Avenue approaching Rocky Run Parkway.  The Kia was traveling southbound through the parking lot of the Kohl’s Department Store (located on Route 202 and on the north side of Rocky Run Parkway) approaching Woodlawn Avenue.

The Kia entered Woodlawn Avenue and into the path of the Jaguar where the two collided.  The Kia continued in a southerly direction after the initial crash and ran into the Red Lobster.  The business sustained minor damage.

Ms. Fidance was not reportedly injured.  Ms. Mahoney was transported from the scene to AI DuPont Hospital.  She was cited with Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
