DSP News Release: Monday, March 09, 2009- Crash Coverage from Saturday Night… Route 7 and Valley Road in Hockessin

Location of Incident: Route 7 and Valley Road, Hockessin Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, March 7, 2009, at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Resume: The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a serious injury crash from Saturday night. 

A 1992 Honda Civic (operated by Christopher Lomax, 22, of Philadelphia, PA) was traveling northbound on Route 7 approaching Valley Road. 

For an unknown reason, the Honda crossed over into the southbound lanes and struck a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox (operated by Maykel Leyva-Marrero, 27, of Lancaster, PA). 

The Equinox overturned in the roadway.  The Honda spun out of control and struck a Justine Houck, 70, of Gap, PA). 

Mr. Lomax and Mr. Leyva-Marrero were both injures in the crash and transported to Christiana Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. 

Passengers in the Equinox- Ms. Lisbel Lago-Aguilar, 27, of Lancaster, PA, and Mariluz Marrero-Avila, 47, of Lancaster, PA, were both injured.   They were transported to Christiana Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

The most seriously injured was Megan Fisher, 25, of Philadelphia, PA. She was a passenger in the Honda.  She too went to Christiana Hospital and her injures were considered life threatening. 

No charges have been filed and this crash remains under investigation.
