DSP News Release: Wednesday, March 04, 2009- Trooper Injured in Tuesday Evening Crash

Location of Incident: Wrangle Hill Road at Porter Road, Bear, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at approximately 5:35 p.m.

Resume: Yesterday evening, a 20+ year veteran of the State Police was operating his fully marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria patrol vehicle on southbound Wrangle Hill Road at Porter Road when he stopped at a red light.  A 1999 Ford Ranger (operator Mark Howell, 48, of Elkton, Maryland) approached the Trooper from behind and rear-ended same. 

The Trooper was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for a back injury.  Mr. Howell was not injured.

Mark Howell was cited for Inattentive Driving.
