DSP News Release: Monday, March 02, 2009- Two Injured in Stanton Area Crash

Location of Incident: Route 7 northbound at westbound Main Street in Stanton, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, March 02, 2009, at approximately 12:10 p.m.

Resume: Earlier today, Troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Route 7 northbound at westbound Main Street, in Stanton, for the report of a two vehicle crash. This area is commonly referred to as the ‘Stanton Curve’ by the tax accountant office and the Super Soda Center.

A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado (operated by Armand Albertini, of Wilmington) was traveling westbound on Main Street in Stanton approaching Route 7 northbound. 

A 2007 Jeep Encompass (operated by Stephen Merced, of Middletown) was traveling northbound on Route 7 approaching the westbound lanes of Main Street. 

The Silverado ran a red light and the two vehicles collided in the intersection. 

The operator of the Jeep, and his female passenger, were both injured in the crash and transported to Christiana Hospital.  There injuries are not considered life threatening. 

Mr. Albertini was not injured.  He was cited with Disregarding a Traffic Control Device.
