Updated DSP News Release: Thursday, February 26, 2009- Bank Robber Arrested- “02/16/09 TD Bank Robbery Investigated”

Wilmington- Earlier today, detectives from the Delaware State Police Robbery Squad arrested Mr. Frank Mercadante, 49, of Valley Run Drive in Wilmington. 

He was identified as the TD Bank Robber from Presidents Day.  Investigators received a tip as to his identity after a citizen recognized Mercadante in surveillance pictures were disseminated by the State Police and shown by the media. 

Detectives learned that Mercadante utilized women’s make-up to give himself a make shift beard in an attempt to hide his identity in the caper. 

Frank Mercadante was formally charged today with Robbery 1st. Bail information was not available at the time of this release.

DSP News Release: Monday, February 16, 2009- TD Bank Robbery Investigated

Location of Incident:  TD Bank, 2502 Marsh Road, Wilmington, Delaware

Date and Time of Occurrence:  Monday, February 16, 2009, at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Suspect(s):  White male, 40’s, 5’08”, 180-200lbs, wearing a White Sox baseball hat, flannel long sleeve shirt, sweat pants and sandal shoes. A large ring was worn on the left middle finger.

Resume:  Earlier this morning, Troopers responded to the TD Bank on Marsh road for a reported bank robbery.

In this case, a white male suspect entered the bank and presented a demand note to the teller.  The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the bandit who fled out of the front of the bank and into car parked out front. 

The suspect vehicle is described as a late 90’s four-door Buick LeSabre which was silver in color.
