Wednesday, February 25, 2009- Road Rage Results in Arrest of Pike
Creek Woman
Location of
Incident:
Red Mill Road at Route 2, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time
of Occurrence:
Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at approximately 6:14 p.m.
Suspect(s):
Sheila Bolton, 22, of Hunting Ridge Road in Newark, Delaware
Resume:
Yesterday evening, a 66-year-old female Newark resident exited the
parking lot of the BP Station, which is at the corner of Route 2 and
Red Mill Road, onto northbound Red Mill Road. She was driving her
Kia minivan and allegedly pulled out into the path of an oncoming
vehicle. Although there was a red light ahead, and the oncoming
vehicle, a Saturn, was slowing down anyway, the operator of the
Saturn swerved to the right, passed the minivan and swerved back in
front of the Kia. The operator of the Saturn then quickly applied
her brakes resulting in a collision.
The operator
of the Saturn, later identified as Sheila Bolton, exited her car,
walked back to the operator of the Kia and yelled profanities at
her. Bolton then threw a bottle of soda and the Kia driver. A
passenger in the van, a 45-year-old female from Wilmington, got out
and was immediately confronted by Bolton.
Bolton then
grabbed the hair of this passenger and was yelling at her. Several
good Samaritans approached and Bolton ran back to her car and fled
the scene. Witnesses obtained the tag number from the fleeing
Saturn which provided officers with an investigative lead.
About an hour
later, Troopers located Bolton at a friend’s home in Pike Creek.
She was transported back to Troop 6 where she was formally charged
with the following offenses: two counts of Offensive Touching,
Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, Reckless Driving,
Failure to Provide Information at a Crash Scene, Improper Stopping,
No Proof of Insurance and Improper Passing. She was released
without bail
