DSP News Release:  Monday, February 23, 2009- North Wilmington Crash Injures Two on Sunday

Location of Incident: Shipley Road and Naamans Road, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Sunday, February 22, 2009, at approximately 11:49 a.m.

Resume:  Troopers investigated a three vehicle crash on Sunday that sent two to the hospital.

The crash occurred on Shipley Road at Naamans Road.  A 1998 Ford Crown Victoria (operated by Steven Kleiner, 54, of Wilmington) was making a left turn from northbound Shipley Road onto westbound Naamans Road when it was struck by a 2002 Dodge Intrepid (operated by Thomas Fretz, 67, of Wilmington) traveling eastbound on Naamans Road.  Subsequent this impact, the Ford spun out of control and struck a 2001 Chrysler minivan (operated by John Jordan, 46, of Wilmington) which was also making a left onto Naamans Road.

Mr. Kleiner and Mr. Fretz were both treated at Christiana Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

Mr. Fretz was cited for Disregarding a Red Light.
