DSP News Release: Friday, February 13, 2009- Purse Snatching by the Bicycle Bandit

Location of Incident:  parking lot of the Wawa, 2621 Philadelphia Pike

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, February 12, 2009, at approximately 10:54 p.m.

Suspect: White male, 20-35 years old, 5’06” to 5’09”, 130 – 160 pounds, unshaven

ResumeLast evening, Troopers investigated a strong arm robbery in the parking lot of the Wawa 2621 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. 

In this case, a 59-year-old female victim was walking back to her vehicle after purchasing coffee in the store.  A white male approached her on a bicycle in the lot and asked the time.  This subject then grabbed the victim’s purse and fled on the bicycle westbound on Harvey Road. 

The victim gave this suspect one for the road and threw her coffee on him.
