DSP News Release: Friday, February 06, 2009- Tractor Trailer Involved in Injury Crash on Route 13

Location of Incident: Route 13 at Red Lion Road, Bear, Delaware

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, February 5, 2009, 4:15 p.m.

Resume: Yesterday afternoon, Troopers were called to northbound Route 13 at Red Lion Road for the report of an injury crash involving a tractor trailer.

A 1993 Mazda 626 (operated by Sheila Pearlman, 41, New Castle) was stopped at a red light on northbound Route 13.  A 1995 ‘White’ Tractor Trailer (operated by Steven Dubois, 57, of Pittsgrove, New Jersey), was traveling northbound on Route 13 approaching the rear of the Mazda. 

The tractor trailer did not stop in time and rear ended the Mazda.  The Mazda was pushed approximately 90’ northwest of where the initial point of impact.  The tractor trailer came to a final stop over 300’ north of the initial point of impact.

Ms. Pearlman sustained non-life threatening injures and was treated at Christiana Hospital. 

Mr. Dubois was not injured.  He was cited for Following Too Closely. 

Traffic was impacted for a little over one hour.
