Released- Tuesday, February 03, 2009

Newark- The person involved in the below outlined incident is identified as James Sacco, 42, of Four Seasons Parkway.

Yesterday afternoon, the DSP Public Information Office disseminated a news release regarding a pharmacy robbery at the Happy Harry’s in the Four Seasons Shopping Center. This was the incident in which the suspect demanded pain killers and advised the pharmacy clerk that he had a bomb.  Around the time the news release went out, detectives from the Troop 2 Robbery Unit received a tip that the suspect was possibly James Sacco.

Detectives responded to Sacco’s home to speak with him. When the Troopers arrived, they found Sacco outside.  Sacco saw the officers and ran back into his home and barricaded himself in.

Sacco refused to surrender to authorities and ultimately took his own life.

A search of Sacco’s apartment was later conducted. Inside, investigators found evidence that positively linked Sacco to the Happy Harry’s robbery.
