of Child Ruled Homicide- Arrest Made

Probe Child Death at Area Motel

Wilmington-
Yesterday afternoon, an autopsy was performed with the child who
died in the Fairview Inn case. The State Medical Examiner has ruled
this incident a homicide as the cause of death was attributed to
multiple blunt force trauma. The child was found to have had
multiple internal injuries.
The child is
identified as: Jaylah Salam, a 16-months-old little girl.
Authorities
next focused their attention on the boyfriend of the child’s mother-
Kadeem Roads-White, 21, who was residing at the Fairview.
Troopers
contacted Kadeem after the autopsy and he responded to Troop 2 for
questioning. Subsequent the investigation by the homicide unit,
detectives linked Kadeem to the death of the child. He was formally
charged with Murder by Abuse or Neglect of a Child (felony). He was
arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute
in lieu of $100,000.00 cash only bond.

Resume:
The Delaware State Police are looking into the death of a
16-month-old female child.
Police and
emergency personnel were called to a room at the Fairview Inn on
Sunday for the report of an infant in medical distress. When
authorities arrived, the child was unresponsive and transported to
AI DuPont Hospital for Children where she was pronounced dead.
The child was
staying at the motel with her mother and mother’s boyfriend. Both
of whom were present when the call for help was made.
Authorities
are unsure if foul play was involved. An autopsy will take place in
the near future and an update in this case will be provided when the
results are known and confirmed.
