DSP News Release: Sunday, February 1, 2009- Two Robberies… Same Possible Suspect… Same Timeframe

Location of Incident:  

  • Five Below- Fairfax Shopping Center, Wilmington, Delaware (occurred at 3:56 p.m.)
  • Around Again Books- 1806 Marsh Road, Wilmington, Delaware (occurred at 4:27 p.m.)

Date of Occurrence: Saturday, January 31, 2009

Suspect(s): Black male or Hispanic male, 6’00” tall, 200 pounds, unshaven, wearing a knit hat and jacket. Last seen driving a dark green or black SUV with tinted windows and no registration plate.

Resume:  At approximately 3:56 p.m. on Saturday, a male suspect entered Five Below and walked to the back of the store. He made contact with two employees and advised them that he was here to rob the store.  One of the employees called 911 and the suspect fled without getting any money.  While Troopers were investigating this attempted robbery a second robbery was being reported, with a matching suspect description, at Around Again Books on Marsh Road. 

In this case, a male suspect entered the store and approached the victim as she was behind the counter.  He implied that he had a weapon and she handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to him.  The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. 

The two incidents occurred within 30 minutes of each other.
