Resume:
At approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning, Troopers were called by a
Magnolia resident who reported he witnessed several subjects
breaking into his car which was parked in front of his residence on
Main Street in Magnolia. It all started when this subject heard
some noise outside of his home. He went out front to investigate and
caught the suspects in the act. The suspects fled the scene in two
separate vehicles and the witness gave chase in his own car.
The witness
followed the bandits to the Church Creek subdivision where the
suspects ditched their vehicles and fled on foot. Troopers arrived
in Church Creek and located the suspect vehicles. Inside one of the
vehicles, officers located the ID of James Carter as well as stolen
radio equipment. Also, one of the vehicles was registered to Eric
Dickerson.
A short time
later, Eric Dickerson responded to Troop 3 in Woodside to report his
car stolen. He also brought with him a poorly constructed story as
to what happened to his car. It did not take long before
investigators saw right through his charade. Troopers were able to
then link Dickerson to several recent car break-ins in Kent County.
He was
formally charged with the following offenses: four counts of
Possession of Burglars Tools (felony), four counts of Conspiracy
(misdemeanor), eight counts of Theft (misdemeanor), two counts of
Attempted Theft (misdemeanor), nine counts of Criminal Mischief
(misdemeanor) and Criminal Trespass (misdemeanor). Upon his
arraignment, Dickerson was ordered to be held at the Smyrna
Correctional Center in lieu of $8,450.00.
James Carter
is currently wanted for the same charges as Dickerson. Also,
suspected stolen property (mainly car radio equipment and its
accessories) has been recovered and secured at Troop 3.
Investigators have not identified all of the owners. Should anyone
know the whereabouts of Carter, or if anyone believes the stolen
property recovered may be theirs, they are encouraged to call Troop
3 at 302-697-4455 ext. 664.
