Resume:
Yesterday
afternoon, a 9-1-1 call was received from a home along the 700 block
of Edgemoor Road in Wilmington. The caller, a 14-year-old female,
advised that some unknown suspects had just shattered a widow at her
residence and had entered the home. This young lady was alone in
the house at the time. The girl locked herself in her bedroom and
waited for a response.
Troop 1 patrol
units were dispatched. A New Castle County Police detective
happened to be nearby and also responded to the residence. He was
the first person to arrive on the scene. As he pulled up, the
detective witnessed two black males fleeing the home in possession
of stolen property. The New Castle County PD detective apprehended
both bandits and detained them until Troopers arrived on scene.
The burglars
were identified as Shachael Wallace and Zakee L. Lloyd. Officers
recovered the stolen goods which consisted of a Laptop computer,
several digital cameras and recorders, paintball guns and equipment,
and computer disks. All of these items were returned to the victims.
Wallace and
Lloyd were both transported back to Troop 1 for processing. The
suspects apparently did not realize the residence was occupied at
the time they broke in; and they luckily never happened upon the
girl inside.
Both suspects
were charged with Burglary 2nd (felony), Conspiracy 2nd
(felony), Theft (felony), and Criminal Mischief (felony). Both
boys were released on a $6,000.00 unsecured bond.
