Suspects:

  • Nabil Abdallah, 20, of Park Place Apartments in Newark, Delaware
  • Edgar MeKenye, 23, of Admirals Club Apartments in Newark, Delaware

Resume: On January 12th, Troopers were called to the Pike Creek Christiana School in reference to a burglary alarm activation.  When officers arrived on the scene, two male suspects fled out of the back of the school and into the wooded area adjacent to the school.  Troopers were unable to locate the burglars; however, the bandits did leave their Kia SUV behind.

This investigation revealed the burglars entered the school and caused a significant amount of damage inside while looking for valuables.

Detectives took custody of the SUV and later executed a search warrant on the vehicle.  Evidence was located in the car which indicated the suspect who had just fled the scene also had committed a burglary earlier in the night (waning hours of January 11th) at the Park View Assembly of God Church.  This church is located directly east of the Pike Creek Christian School.  Burglar tools were also located in the vehicle.

Once detectives were finished processing the Kia, the vehicle was taken to Goodchilds Towing on Brookhill Drive.  Mr. Nabil Abdallah and Edgar MeKenye, whom investigators had already identified as having committed the aforementioned burglaries, responded to Goodchilds on January 13th with a spare key to the Kia.  The two subjects took the Kia without authorization.

An employee of Goodchilds saw the Kia fleeing the business and he immediately called authorities.  A Trooper working an extra duty assignment in the nearby area on Route 4 stopped the Kia and took both Abdullah and MeKenye into custody.  They were transported back to Troop 2 where they were formally charged with the following offenses:

·        Possession of Burglars Tools (felony)

·        Two counts of Burglary (felony)

·        Criminal Mischief (felony)

·        Two counts of Conspiracy 2nd (felony)

·        Theft of Services (misdemeanor)

·        Theft (felony)

·        Theft (misdemeanor)

Both defendants were held on a $9,000.00 secured bail at the Howard Young Correctional Institute.
