Worker Robbed After Work Walking to Car
Location of Incident:
Parking Lot of Delaware Park, 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Newark,
Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, January 10, 2009
Suspect(s): light skinned black male, 30-40 years of age,
5'10"-6'0", 200-250 lbs, gray jacket with draw string around the
bottom, khaki pants, white shoes
Resume: On Saturday morning, Troopers were dispatched to
Delaware Park in reference to a robbery that occurred in the parking
lot. This particular parking lot can be accessed by turning off of
Kirkwood Highway to Delaware Park Boulevard.
This investigation revealed that the victim was an employee of
Delaware Park who was walking towards her vehicle. The victim stated
that she did not notice anyone around her until someone tried to
take her pocketbook. The victim was able to hold onto her pocketbook
however the suspect was able to reach inside and take a small change
purse. The change purse contained a small amount of cash and other
items.
The suspect ran from the scene and entered his vehicle, parked a
short distance away. This vehicle is only described as being four
door sedan gray in color. The suspect then fled northbound in his
vehicle on Delaware Park Boulevard towards Kirkwood Highway.
The victim was uninjured during the incident.
This case does not appear to be related to the robbery which was
reported to the media on Saturday, January 10th just outside
Delaware Park on Route 7. There is no video surveillance available
from this incident.
