DSP News Release: Saturday, January 10, 2009- Suspect Robs Variety Store at Knifepoint

Location of Incident:  Our Store, 3125 New Castle Avenue, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday, January 09, 2009, 6:00 p.m.

Suspect(s):  Black, approximately 18-20 years of age, 5'08"-5'10", medium build, dark sweatshirt with emblem on left chest area, black mask, faded baggy blue jeans

Resume: On Friday January 09, 2008, Troopers responded to 3125 New Castle Avenue, Our Store, for a Robbery Complaint.

Upon their arrival, officers made contact with the female store clerk.  She advised a male suspect entered the business, walked passed the front of counter and then made a left to come behind the service counter. The clerk then observed the suspect had a knife in his right hand.  The suspect then demanded cash.

The victim lunged at the suspect and the knife fell to the floor.  The suspect in turn physically attacked the clerk who fell to the ground and hit her head.   The suspect then removed an undisclosed amount of money from the business and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
