Update #1- Traffic Alert in Hockessin

Released- Thursday, January 08, 2009

Hockessin- A 1998 Freightliner tractor trailer, operated by Christopher Parsons, 63, of Plain City, Ohio, was traveling westbound on Route 48 and entered the merge with Route 41.   There is a curve in the road at this location.

Authorities believe Mr. Parsons was traveling at a speed too great to make it around the curve safely and subsequently overturned. 

Mr. Parsons was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital for observation as his injuries appear minor. 

Christopher Parsons was cited for Unsafe Speed.

DSP News Release: Thursday, January 08, 2009- Traffic Alert

Location of Incident: Lancaster Pike at Route 41, Hockessin, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, January 08, 2009, approximately 12:55 p.m.

Resume: The Delaware State Police is currently on the scene of an overturned tractor trailer on Lancaster Pike in the area of Route 41.  Road closures can be expected and motorists should seek alternative routes.
