DSP News Release:  Thursday, January 08, 2009- Subject Robbed in Canby Park Shopping Center

Location of Incident: Canby Park Shopping Center- 1944 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Wednesday, January 07, 2009, 1:30 p.m.

Suspects:

• Suspect # 1- heavyset black male, approximately 5'6”, 20 years of age, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt
• Suspect #2- a thin build black male, approximately 5'8”, 160 lbs wearing a black hooded sweatshirt

Resume: Yesterday afternoon, Troopers were called to the Canby Park Shopping Center in reference to a robbery complaint. 

The male victim in this case reported he was walking along the store front when he was approached by a black male (suspect #1).  The suspect asked the victim for the time.  The victim retrieved his phone at which time the suspect punched him in his face- knocking him to the ground. 

The victim began to fend off the suspect and dropped his phone in the scuffle.  The second suspect in this case grabbed the victim’s cell phone from the ground and both suspects fled the scene behind the La Cabana Mexican Restaurant.
