DSP News Release: Monday, September 7, 2009- Attempted Robbery Probed on Race Street

 

Location: Unit block of Race Street, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, September 6, 2009, at approximately 8:00 p.m.

 

Suspect(s): Female, short in stature, wearing tight fitting tan pants, white shirt, with a scarf covering her face where only her eyes were showing.

 

Resume: At approximately 8:00 p.m. last evening, Troopers were called to an apartment on the unit block of Race Street for the report of a robbery. 

 

This investigation revealed the 56-year-old female victim was watching TV in her apartment when she heard a knock at the door.  She went to answer it and was met by a female suspect who had a scarf covering her face with only her eyes showing.  The victim saw the suspect was armed with a handgun.  The suspect backed the victim up into her home and demanded prescription drugs.  The victim saw an opportunity to flee and subsequently ran away leaving the suspect behind. She made her way to a neighbors door where she knocked and asked for help.  The neighbors called 911 and Troopers responded. 

 

An inventory of the home was conducted and it appeared that nothing was stolen. 

 

The suspect's description is provided above.
