Updated DSP News Release: Thursday, October 29, 2009- Vehicle Sought from October 21st Homicide Located

 

Wilmington- Earlier today, a citizen in the City of Wilmington called the Wilmington Police to report an abandoned vehicle near his home.  Officers responded and found the vehicle to be the 2002 Chevrolet Impala which was being sought subsequent the homicide from October 21st

 

The Impala was then turned over to the State Police for processing. 

 

In an effort not to compromise the investigation, the location the vehicle was found will not be disseminated at this time.

DSP News Release: Medical Examiner’s Office Rules Death a Homicide

 

Delaware State Police have identified the victim of this morning’s investigation.

 

Artega L Green, 31, of Wilmington, has been identified as the victim who was found this morning off of South Heald Street by a passerby.

 

The Medical Examiner’s Officer has also ruled the manner of death a homicide and the cause “gun shot wound.”

 

Troopers are also trying to locate Green’s automobile. The car is described as a dark grey 2002 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was displaying Delaware temporary registration “XC039915.” Anyone who knows the whereabouts of this vehicle is asked to call “911” immediately. No one should approach this vehicle if it is seen and the occupants should be considered dangerous.

 

Anyone who may have any information concerning the crime can contact “Crime Stoppers” by dialing 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips maybe phoned in anonymously and a cash reward is offered leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible.

DSP News Release: State Police Investigating Suspicious Death

 

Location: 900 block South Heald Street, Wilmington, DE

 

Date of Occurrence: Discovered Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 0830 hours

 

Victim:  Black male, late 20s

Delaware State Police are searching for clues after the body of a male was found along South Heald Street just south of the city of Wilmington.

 

The body of the man was found around 8:30 this morning after a truck driver traveling south on South Heald Street saw something on the side of the road. The driver stopped and found the deceased man’s body in the weeds along the shoulder of the highway.

 

The driver immediately contacted “911” to report what he had found.  Troopers responded to the scene and close the roadway down from Rogers Road to the 800 block of South Heald Street.

 

State police investigators from Troop 2 and the Homicide Unit responded to the area to canvas the area and collect evidence. The body was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office so that the cause and manner of death can be determined. Troopers say that evidence found at the scene suggests that the death may be a homicide. State trooper will wait for the Medical Examiner’s finding before declaring it a homicide investigation.

 

Troopers are still attempting to identify the victim at this time. When police determine the identity that information will be made public after the family is notified.

 

The roadway was reopened at approximately 12:50 p.m. The investigation is still on going.
