Preliminary DSP News Release: Wednesday, October 28, 2009- Pike Creek Bank Robbery

 

Location: Wachovia, 5801 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle Delaware

 

Date of Occurrence:  Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at approximately 12:40 p.m.

 

Suspect(s): Male subject, 5'09", average build, masked and wearing all dark clothing. This subject was armed with handgun.  He was described as having a Spanish accent.

 

Resume: At approximately 12:40 p.m. today, a Wachovia Bank customer had called the Pike Creek branch and was speaking with a bank representative on the phone when she heard some commotion in the background. It soon became apparent that she was listening to a robbery in progress.  This subject then called 911 to report the incident.  Troopers were dispatched and soon arrived on the scene. 

 

This investigation revealed a masked male subject entered the bank and was armed with a handgun.  He ordered several subjects to the ground and demanded cash.  The tellers complied and the bandit was last seen running out of the front door.

 

About 6 customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery.

 

Surveillance video is currently being reviewed, however, it is unavailable at this time.
