DSP News Release: Saturday, November 14, 2009- Subjects Assaulted in Christiana Mall Parking Lot

 

Location: Christiana Mall, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date of Occurrence:  Friday, November 13, 2009, at approximately 2:30 p.m.

 

Suspect(s): Unknown

 

Resume: Yesterday afternoon, Troopers were called to the Christiana Hospital for a stabbing investigation.  When officers arrived, they contacted the victim, a 20-year-old female. 

 

She alleged that earlier in the day she had parked her car in the parking lot adjacent to the JC Penny’s at the Christiana Mall. After patronizing the mall, she walked back outside to her vehicle when, all of the sudden, she was struck on the side of her head by an unknown object.  The victim said she turned around, and before she could see who was assaulting her, she was struck square in the face knocking her to the ground.  At this point, the victim advised she lost consciousness. 

 

When the victim came to, she said her boots had been pulled off of her.  Her purse was opened and her keys were lying on the ground; however, it appeared that nothing was missing.  She made her way to her car, and once she sat down, the victim noticed a laceration on her leg.                                

 

The victim started her car and drove down the street to the Christiana Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.  There was no sign of sexual assault. 

 

There is no suspect information at this time.  It is unknown if surveillance video captured this assault.
