DSP News Release: Subject Stabbed During Robbery Attempt

 

Location: Train Tracks near Maryland Ave. near Canby Park, Wilmington, DE New Castle County

 

Date of Occurrence: Saturday November 7th, 2009 between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

 

Suspect:  White male wearing a dark colored hoodie

Delaware State Police are investigating an attempted robbery that resulted in a stabbing.

 

The incident happened when a 21 year-old male was walking down the railroad tracks in the area of Maryland Avenue near Canby Park. The victim was heading to a friend’s house when he was approached by a suspect in a dark colored hoodie. The suspect confronted the victim and demanded property. A physical altercation ensured. The victim was able to get away from his assailant. As he was running away the victim realized he was stabbed in the chest and contacted a friend to take him to the hospital.

 

The suspect was admitted to an area hospital with a stab wound.
