DSP News Release: Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 – DSP Seeking the Identity of a Robbery Suspect
Location:
Date of Occurrence: Thursday, October 29th, 2009 at approximately 9 pm
Suspect(s): Black male suspect, approximately 6’-6’5, large build, between 25 and 40 years old, dark colored hair and full beard. In addition, the suspect was wearing dark clothing.
Resume:
The Delaware State Police are investigating two attempted robberies which occurred on Thursday, October 29th, 2009, shortly before 9 pm.
The first incident occurred at the Payless Shoe Store, located at 11 University Plaza, Newark. The suspect entered the business, approached the clerk and presented a note indicating he was armed. The suspect then demanded an undisclosed amount of money. Without success, the suspect fled empty handed.
A neighboring business, Happy Harry’s, located at 15 University Plaza, reported a suspect matching the description, entered the business, approached the counter and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the clerk. The clerk said “no” at which time the suspect stated he was joking and wanted to purchase a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk turned to obtain the requested item the suspect fled.
The Delaware State Police is releasing the following surveillance images in an attempt to identify the suspect. Any information pertaining to this individual’s identity can be relayed to Troop 2 at (302) 834-2630 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
