DSP News Release: Thursday, May 21, 2009- Tanker Portion of Tractor Trailer Turns on Its Side in Newark

Location of Incident: At the dead end on Corporate Boulevard, Pencader Corporate Center, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, May 21, 2009, at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Resume: At approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening, Troopers responded to a dead end on Corporate Boulevard for the report of a tractor trailer which was partially on its side.

A 2007 Mack Truck, hauling a tanker, (operated by Bill Bridgewater, 63, of Troy, New York) traveled down Corporate Boulevard to make a u-turn at the end of the street.  The truck made the u-turn too fast and the tanker turned onto its side while the truck remained upright.

The tanker has not leaked its load, however, emergency personnel from various agencies are on scene as a precautionary measure and Corporate Boulevard will remain closed until the situation is resolved.

Mr. Bridgewater was cited with Unsafe Movement.
