DSP News Release: Thursday, May 21, 2009- Pedestrian Struck in Late Night Crash

 

Location of Incident: Route 13 southbound, just south of the Route 13 / 40 split, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, May 20, 2009, at approximately 10:30

 

Suspect(s): Earl L. Dunne, 28, of Lexton Road in New Castle, Delaware 

 

Resume: Last evening, Troopers responded to Route 13 southbound, just south of the Route 13 / 40 split for a pedestrian crash.

 

This investigation revealed Earl L. Dunne had left Pockets Liquors and attempted to cross the roadway in a non-designated crossing area.  He was subsequently struck by an unknown vehicle traveling southbound on Route 13.  Mr. Dunne was up and walking around after the crash and actually tried to confront the driver of the vehicle that struck him as this vehicle made a u-turn and came back through the crash scene. 

 

Dunne, who was unable to provide details concerning the fleeing car, was transported to Christiana Hospital with a sore neck and back.  He was cited with the following traffic violations: Drunk on the Highway, Not Crossing at Crosswalk & Walking on the Roadway at Night without a Flashlight.
