DSP News Release: Wednesday, May 13, 2009- 23 Year Old Liquor Store Manager Arrested for Stealing USC
Location of Incident: Churchman's Road Liquors, 1101 Churchman's Rd, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday May 05, 2009 through Friday May 8, 2009
Suspect(s): Catherine Holdsworth, 23, of Rhode Island Ave, Wilmington
Resume: On Tuesday morning, Troopers were called to the Churchman's Road Liquors, for the report of an employee stealing cash from the register.
When officers arrived on scene, they contacted the Liquor Store owner. The owner advised he had discovered one of his store managers-Catherine Holdsworth had been stealing money from his business.
An investigation revealed when Ms. Holdsworth was working the cash register, she would pocket the proceeds from a sale instead of putting the money in the till. Through video surveillance and record keeping, it was discovered that Ms. Holdsworth stole approximately $200, from the business over a period of a week.
Ms. Holdsworth was formally charged with Theft under $1000 (misdemeanor) and Falsifying Business Records (misdemeanor). She was released on $500 unsecured bond and issued a no-contact order with Churchman's Road Liquors.
