DSP News Release: Friday, May 29, 2009- Brass Knuckles Seized After Traffic Stop

 

Location of Incident: Route 2 and Possum Park Road, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday, May 29, 2009, at approximately 12:30 a.m.

 

Suspect(s): Omar Jackson, 21, of North Fawn Drive in Newark, Delaware 

 

Resume: Shortly after midnight today, a Troop 6 patrol officer observed a Nissan 200 SX on Route 2 at Possum Park Road. The registration on this car wasn’t visible and the officer initiated a traffic stop.  The then Nissan pulled into the parking lot of the Wendy’s at this intersection. 

 

The Trooper approached the driver and asked for his license. When the operator could not produce one, the Trooper asked for his name.  The driver identified himself as Easa Abdulabad, however, the Trooper’s investigation revealed this subject was actually Omar Jackson, 21, of Newark. 

 

A computer check revealed Omar was not licensed to drive a car.  Further investigation revealed Mr. Jackson was in possession of brass knuckles.

 

He was subsequently charged with the following misdemeanor offenses: Carrying a Concealed Deadly Instrument, Criminal Impersonation, Driving without a License and an equipment violation.  He was released without bail and his court date is pending.
