Resume: The Delaware State Police is investigating a number of Thefts from Vehicles Complaints which were all reported yesterday.  In all ten (10) victims were affected.

At this point, it is difficult to determine if all of these cases are connected.  All sorts of property was targeted which included computers, GPS devices, dvd players, dvd’s, car radios, digital cameras, I-Pods, cell phone chargers, cash and speakers. What was the dollar amount of the loss?  $5,000.00 in stolen property and $3,000.00 in damaged property.

Some of the vehicles burglarized were unlocked and others were secured.  For those vehicle locked, windows were broken to gain entry.

Citizens are urged to remove anything of value from their vehicles when left unattended.  For those vehicles with after market radios, precautions should be taken, such as removing the radio or the face plate where such feature exists.  In no case should money or computer equipment be left in a vehicle.

In about half of these incidents, the stolen property was visible from outside the vehicle which simply allowed the suspect(s) to pick and choose which car they wanted to target.  In the other cases, the suspect(s) gained entry into the vehicles, however, nothing was stolen.

As always, suspicious persons should be reported immediately to 911.
