Sleepy Tractor Trailer Driver Crashes and Causes Shutdown of I-95

 

Released-Saturday, June 20, 2009

 

Claymont-Troopers have identified the driver as Taq Wang, 49, of New York. 

 

The investigation revealed that Mr. Wang was traveling southbound on I-95 in the single lane of traffic in a 2001 Freightliner tractor trailer.  All other lanes were shut down due to construction on southbound I-95.

 

The driver side front of the Freightliner struck the guardrail, damaging nearly 149’ of it, as Mr. Wang veered off to the right side of the roadway before the Freightliner came to a stop in the grassy area.

 

There have been no injuries reported and alcohol is not suspected in this crash.

 

The single lane of I-95 was reopened after approximately 20 minutes.

Sleepy Tractor Trailer Driver Crashes and Causes Shutdown of I-95

Claymont-Troopers from Troop 1 are currently on the scene of a tractor trailer crash which occurred around 4:00 a.m. this morning.  This crash occurred on southbound I-95, just south of Marsh Road, near Rock Manor. 

 

The tractor trailer came to rest off of the right side of the roadway, however the roadway is being closed and traffic is being diverted onto I-495 southbound near the Pennsylvania state line, while the tractor trailer is being removed.

 

Injuries and alcohol involvement are unknown at this time.

 

An updated release will be sent when additional details are known and confirmed.
