Updated DSP News Release: Thursday, June 4, 2009- Two Vehicle Crash Impacts Traffic on I-95

 

Newark- The vehicles involved in this crash were as follows:

·        1999 Chevrolet Venture, operated by Marcia Bristol, 34, of Middletown, Delaware

·        1990 Ford Ranger, operated by Ricardo Espinoza, 44, of Avondale, Pennsylvania

 

In this case, the Chevrolet Venture pulled onto the left shoulder of I-95 northbound as the operator felt this vehicle felt there was a mechanical issue with her van.  The Chevrolet came to a stop and the operator called for a tow truck. 

 

For an unknown reason, the Ranger moved to the left shoulder and rear-ended the van resulting in significant damage to both vehicles. 

 

Ms. Bristol and Mr. Espinoza were transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where their injuries were not considered life threatening at this time. 

 

Mr. Espinoza was cited with Driving without a License and Inattentive Driving. 

 

 

Preliminary DSP News Release: Thursday, June 4, 2009- Two Vehicle Crash Impacts Traffic on I-95                              

 

Location of Incident: I-95 northbound between Route 896 and Chapman Road, Newark, Delaware

 

Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, June 04, 2009, at approximately 10:00 a.m.

 

Resume: Troopers are currently on the scene of a two vehicle crash on I-95 northbound between Route 896 and Chapman Road. 

 

This crash involved a pick up truck and a van.  Preliminary reports indicate two minor injuries at the scene.  The pick up truck caught fire after the impact. 

 

Motorist can still get by the crash scene in both directions on I-95; however, delays should be expected.
