Location of Incident: Route 13 northbound at Stahl Avenue, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, June 01, 2009, at approximately 12:41 p.m.

Resume: Shortly after noon today, Troopers were called for a three vehicle collision on Route 13 at Stahl Avenue.

A 1998 Ford Ranger (operated by William Revels, 57, of Wilmington, Delaware) was traveling Route 13 southbound and entered the left turn lane for Stahl Avenue.  This driver was presented with a blinking red light.

Traffic in the left two lanes, of the three,  for Route 13 northbound were stopped due to congestion.  A 2004 Dodge Ram pick up (operated by Jeffrey Deangelo, 19, of Wilmington, Delaware) was traveling Route 13 northbound in the right lane.

The Ford began to cross over the Route 13 northbound lanes to get to Stahl Avenue. This vehicle then crossed directly into the path of the Ram resulting in the impact.

The Ranger was turned onto its side as it was pushed in an easterly direction. It then struck a 2002 Dodge Dakota pick up (operated by Daniel Tyrrell, 72, of New Castle, Delaware) which was stopped at a red light on Stahl Avenue.

Mr. Revels was trapped in his vehicle for 30 – 45 minutes until he was extricated by emergency personnel.  He was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   Mr. Revels was cited with Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
