The Headline: Wednesday, July 29, 2009- Details Surrounding Morning Tractor Trailer Fire
Location: I-495 at 12th Street, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County
Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Resume: AT approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning, Troopers responded to I-495 northbound at 12th Street for the report of a vehicle fire.
A tractor-trailer, operated by James Bednarek, 52, of Kesgeville, Pennsylvania, was traveling northbound on I-495 when this vehicle encountered a mechanical problem and caught fire.
The operator pulled over and the truck portion of this rig became fully engulfed. The operator escaped injury.
Traffic was impacted because of this incident for approximately two hours.
No citations were issued.
