Driver Dies a Month After Crash in Wilmington

 

Location of Incident: Pigeon Point Road and Lambsons Lane, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date of Occurrence: Saturday, June 27th, 2009, at approximately 10:33 a.m.

 

Resume:  Members of the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit have advised a driver involved in a June 27th crash died yesterday as a result of the injuries he sustained in that collision. 

 

Earl Barnard, 73, of Parma Avenue in New Castle, was traveling in his 2002 Dodge Dakota southbound on Pigeon Point Road approaching the intersection with Lambsons Lane. 

 

A 2009 Honda FIT, operated by George Parker, 42, of Landers Lane in New Castle, was pulling out of a private driveway on Pigeon Point Road and drove directly into the path of the oncoming Dodge.

 

The two vehicles collided and both operators were transported, treated and admitted to the Christiana Hospital. 

 

Mr. Barnard was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m., on Wednesday morning, July 22nd, 2009. 

 

This investigation is continuing by the Collision Reconstruction Unit and no charges have been filed as of yet.
