Resume: Detectives from the DSP Robbery Squad at Troop 2 are investigating one of the more disturbing robberies of late from June 23rd.

This investigation revealed a husband and wife, who were 54 and 53-years-old respectively, and from Florida, had been staying at the Days Inn Motel on Concord Pike.  Earlier in the evening, the pair went to see a movie across the street at the Brandywine Towne Center.

The victims returned to their room (#138) at approximately 10:24 p.m. and tried unsuccessfully to gain entry.  Apparently, while they were gone, two suspects, who are described above, jammed the key slot to the victim’s motel room door.  While the victims were distracted in trying unsuccessfully to open the door, the two suspects ran up behind the victims and began to beat them until they fell to the ground.  At one point, one suspect dragged the female victim on the ground while he continued to beat her with a blunt object.  The second suspect beat the male victim until he was able to remove the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket.

The victims, who were injured, refused medical treatment.

The two suspects immediately drove to the Wawa location on Carpenter’s Station Road where they used the victim’s credit card.

This incident was caught on tape.  Investigators are hopeful someone in the community will recognize the suspects in the photographs below or the video (link attached) and provide necessary information to identify them.  Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to call 302-834-2630 ext. 6 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
