DSP News Release: Monday, August 31, 2009- Argument Amongst Roommates Results in Stabbing at Delaware Park Bunk House

 

Location: Delaware Park bunk house area, 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Newark, Delaware

 

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, August 30th, 2009, at approximately 2:00 a.m.

 

Suspect(s): Pedro Hernandez, 37, of 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Newark, Delaware

 

Resume: At approximately 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning, Troopers were called to the bunk house area at Delaware Park for the report of a stabbing. 

 

This investigation revealed Pedro Hernandez, and his 21-year-old male roommate, were drinking together Saturday night into Sunday morning.  The two went back to their bunk house at which time the roommate (victim) invited a friend over whom Pedro did not like. 

 

An argument ensued and the roommate decided to leave the house.  As he was walking out, Pedro produced a steak knife and stabbed the victim in the shoulder and the forearm.  The victim was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. 

 

Pedro Hernandez was apprehended at the scene and transported back to Troop 2 for processing. He was formally charged with Possession with a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony (felony) and Assault 2nd (felony). 

 

Mr. Hernandez was issued a $2,000 cash only bond and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institute.
