DSP News Release: Thursday, August 27, 2009- DSP Patrol Car Struck at Crash Scene

 

Location: I-95 northbound, just north of the I-295 merge, Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County

 

Date and Time: Wednesday, August 26th, 2009, at 8:33 p.m.  

 

Resume: Yesterday evening, a Troop 6 patrol officer responded to a single car crash on I-95 northbound, just north of the I-295 merge. 

 

The vehicle involved in this crash was partially in the right lane.  The officer activated his emergency equipment and set out flares at to direct traffic away from the right lane where he was now positioned in his 2007 Ford Crown Victoria.

 

A 1999 Plymouth Breeze, operated by a 58-year-old female Wilmington resident, was traveling I-95 northbound approaching the patrol car in the right lane.  The Plymouth did not change lanes in time and struck the patrol car.  Both vehicles sustained significant damage. 

 

The operator of the Plymouth was cited for Unsafe Lane Change. 

 

No injuries were reported in this crash.
