DSP News Release: Wednesday, August 12, 2009- Fatal Crash Reported on Grubb Road
Location: Grubb Road, west of Weatherton Drive, North Wilmington, Delaware, New Castle County
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at 11:56 p.m.
Resume: Late last evening, Troopers and emergency personnel responded to Grubb Road, west of Weatherton Drive, for a report of a single vehicle motorcycle crash.
In this case, Geroge McGinn, 24, of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, was traveling eastbound on Grubb Road at a high rate of speed on a 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle.
The operator lost control and went off of the roadway where the bike struck a mailbox and a steel guardrail. The operator was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. McGinn was not wearing a helmet and a computer check revealed he was driving on a suspended license.
Alcohol and speed are considered factors in this crash which remains under investigation.
